Washington State Corn Maze Dear Teachers,
The Washington State Corn Maze is ready in September each year for you and your students to visit. A trip through the maze is a combination lesson in geography, history, map reading, direction finding, teamwork and fun. The challenges and rewards are built right in to this unique learning experience. New for 2005 are stories of Washingtons first citizens. Join us as we pay tribute to our native people, even as we learn about the hardships and mistreatment they endured as our nation expanded to the west. You may have seen our State Maze on the news or in the paper. It is approximately 11 acres in size and accurately represents the State of Washington. The maze features the roads and highways that crisscross our state as well as cities, towns and landmarks, complete with historical facts and stories mounted on posts at the locations.
With so much information about our State History and Geography we have tied the learning to the State Essential Academic Learning Requirements and have identified the state ELR benchmarks in Social Studies, Reading and Communications. Copies of these benchmarks are available for the asking. It is our hope that the Washington State Corn Maze experience and corresponding curriculum will make learning and teaching Washington State History an enjoyable experience. The Maze is available August, September, and into October as the weather permits. The Washington State Corn Maze is endorsed by Linda Gohlke of the Washington State Commission on Student Learning.

Pumpkin Patch
Dear Teachers
Over the last ten years our Pumpkin Patch field trip has been a favorite of preschool and primary children all over the area. So many children today do not have access to the world of farming. It is one of our goals to share a bit of farm life with them. While visiting the farm children will discover the fun of playing in a barn full of hay (we've constructed a maze of hay in our 90yr old barn, three stories high with a slide), We have a petting farm where children can choose to look at the animals or touch them, and then there's the "Four Little Pigs" show narrated by Farmer Ben, and featuring our very own farm pigs.
